Christy Rozek--Assignment #1--A Christmas Memory

It was Christmas day, 2007. After a very exciting morning of present opening, everybody tends to chill for the rest of the day, playing with their new toys, or doing generally fun activities. One of my new toys, which my brother Tom gave me, was a stack of five chocolate bars, raspberry filled. They’ve remained my favorite since the first taste of them I ever had. I walked into the living room, a good Girl Scout, always prepared, with my chocolate bars in hand. My Brother, Phil, was watching a movie which was based off the Shakespeare play Othello, but set in Japan and spoken completely in Japanese. I decided to join him. After I had caused myself a sufficient stomach ache from overindulgence into my trusty chocolate bars, I started to pay attention to the movie. A very short time later I realized that it was rather cheesy, I had very little idea of what was going on, and it was an extremely long movie. Phil and I shared several very pleasant conversations, halting the movie in the process. About two-and-a-half hours after I entered the room, I left…Feeling as though the chocolate bars had done me far from good, knowing that I had completely ruined my appetite for dinner, and still, not really knowing the plot of the movie. I can’t say that this was my best Christmas memory. But it stands out to me very vividly. I would usually classify these events that transpired as not all-that enjoyable, but something about the situation was amusing and strangely whimsical.
