Tasteless imitation Easter eggs are a complete waste. I suppose I can’t say that the world would have been an entirely better place without them. They do serve their purpose of helping people appreciate more finely crafted sweets.
In the spring of 2007 I had a tragic and thoroughly damaging experience with one of these candies. While helping run an Easter egg hunt for small children, one of the parents thoughtfully gave my cohorts and me a bag of candies for our efforts.
They are the jewel of the dollar store, a testament to the mass production of edibles which someone always brings to a party, but would never eat themselves. They are grainy and tasteless. Made purely from sugar and chemicals which have been over-processed, and under-loved.
I must say, they were pretty colors though.
After tasting one of these, I stuck it into my coat pocket, not to encounter it again until at least a year later. By that time, I believe the taste had improved.
